A recent list of the best lobster rolls in Maine and Massachusetts from 10best.com, a list site from USA Today, has a lot of the usual suspects.

Red’s Eats in Wiscasset makes an appearance, as does The Clam Shack in Kennebunk. Seven of the 10 are in Maine, which has us asking how three Massachusetts rolls made the list, but hey, it’s from a national magazine.

The big surprise here is the top spot, which goes to Bayview Takeout in Beals. The small community is nearly two hours east of Bangor (and about three and a half hours from Portland), so it’s a wonder 10best.com readers even found the place, which serves the classic lobster roll in a buttered hot dog roll (i.e. a real lobster roll) at a takeout window in the Washington County island community.
