Mainers like Christmas movies more than most states. Here is the most popular one, according to Google

Mainers love Christmas movies, it turns out.

In fact, according to a recent analysis, the state is the ninth “most enthused” about holiday movies, proving that there is now a state ranking for every possible subject.

Estately, a real estate blog, got to this conclusion by analyzing the favorite movies of Facebook users around the country. It found that 7.93 percent of Mainers on Facebook “express interest” in at least one of these 10 holiday movies:

  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  • Elf
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • Scrooged
  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • Home Alone
  • A Christmas Story
  • The Santa Clause

Estately then analyzed 11 years of Google search trends to get a sense of which movie Mainers were most interested in.

It found that Will Ferrell’s modern classic, “Elf,” topped the list.
